What is the reason for this recall? What is the problem with the cheese?
Rizo-Lopez Foods, Inc., a supplier of Cotija cheese to Home Chef’s supplier, Sargento, has announced a nationwide recall due to Listeria monocytogenes found in the Rizo-Lopez, Inc. facility. Out of an abundance of caution, Sargento, which supplies multiple cheeses to Home Chef, has voluntarily recalled those and additional cheese products used in our meal kits that were packaged by Sargento on the same line as the recalled Cotija cheese. Therefore, Home Chef is advising customers to discard any cheese ingredients contained in the meal kits impacted by this recall.
If you have consumed the cheese ingredient and you are experiencing illness or you have other medical concerns, please contact your healthcare provider, as recommended by the FDA.
What should I do if I already made/consumed a meal that was recalled?
If you have consumed the cheese and you are experiencing illness or have other medical concerns, please contact your healthcare provider immediately, as recommended by the FDA.
