How does Home Chef ensure food safety and sanitation?

At Home Chef, food safety is at the core of everything we do — from sourcing to packaging to delivery. We follow strict safety and sanitation protocols at every step to help ensure your meals arrive fresh, safe, and ready to enjoy.

In Our Facilities

We follow Good Manufacturing Practices across all production facilities, including:

  • Frequent and thorough cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and workspaces
  • Regular handwashing and glove use
  • Wellness policies that require team members to stay home when sick

These procedures are designed to meet or exceed industry standards and help protect both customers and employees.

Ingredient Sourcing

We maintain rigorous supplier approval and quality assurance programs to ensure ingredients meet our high standards for quality and safety. We work with some of the most reputable food suppliers in the country — including many local sources — and continuously monitor safety and performance.

Packaging and Delivery

Your meals are packaged with care and shipped in insulated boxes with ice packs to maintain safe temperatures during transit. Our packaging is designed to help keep food fresh until you're able to bring your box inside — even if you're not home at the time of delivery.

A Note About COVID-19

We continue to follow guidance from agencies like the CDC, FDA, and USDA to ensure safe food handling and sanitation practices.

According to the CDC, there has been no evidence of COVID-19 transmission through food or food packaging, and coronaviruses are unlikely to survive long on surfaces like packaging materials. The FDA has echoed these findings.

We remain committed to monitoring public health guidance and will communicate any important updates to customers when applicable.
